Summit Ben Nevis
3 - 6 October 2024

Join us on a BIG adventure to conquer the majestic Ben Nevis, the highest peak in the British Isles. This challenging climb promises a unique and awe-inspiring experience and at a time of year when the pesky mosquitoes have gone but the weather should (hopefully!) still be kind!

October offers a unique perspective on this iconic climb, with the changing seasons adding an extra layer of magic to the rugged landscape. As you reach the snow-topped summit, you'll be rewarded with panoramic views that stretch across the undulating hills and glens, showcasing the beauty of Scotland in its autumnal splendour.

This is a steep but steady climb with plenty of opportunity for rest stops, photography and a brew on the mountain – it’s a marathon and not a sprint and we welcome seasoned hikers as well as walkers who are keen to bag their first summit.

Nestled amidst this breathtaking scenery is the Corran Bunkhouse, our haven for the weekend. The Corran Bunkhouse, located loch-side and only 10 minutes from the base of Ben Nevis, provides a comfortable and welcoming retreat after a day of hiking.

The main facts

  • Distance: + 16 Km (10 miles)

  • Ascent: 1,200m

  • Duration: 8- 10 hours

  • Experience: No experience of mountain walking is needed although a good level of fitness is required.  We can provide training guidance if required.

  • Download the mandatory kit list here

We start at the Ben Nevis visitor centre, which is 2 miles from Fort William. The mountain path takes us close to Lochan Meall an t-Suidhhe, where we can take a decision if we want to take a little detour to see more of the Loch.

At 700m we start the zig zags indicating a steeper ascent and where the mountain changes from the green vegetated lower slopes to the bare upper scree and rock slopes leading to the summit.

Once at the top of the zig zags the majority of the climb is complete and it is now a steady walk to the summit at 1345m.

We follow the same route back but will be stopping at the pub for a well earned drink before heading back to the car park.
